This is my second home, a place full of beauty that transports me to Morocco or North Africa. They respect and celebrate all cultures here. I have listened to Guinean, Indian, Pakistani, Syrian, Italian, Latin American, Moroccan, Egyptian, and Turkish music.

Barzhak has amazing live music every week and this Fri was no exception. It's worth the trek from Manhattan to experience global music in a cozy and intimate setting. I haven't tried the food yet but it smells delicious. Next time for sure.

I had a tropical island themed celebration at Barzakh Cafe yesterday, this little gem that I am so glad to have discovered over and over again! I requested a specific band here and the result was nothing short of amazing! Amazing music and sound system, goat and chicken barbecue slowly roasting, garlic sauce, and brownies for dessert. My friends were all mesmerized by the walls full of books and the big big space (bar + main room + backyard)! If you want to book a venue for a party, gathering or just listen to the amazing band selection Barzakh is the place. El Atigh is a rare laid back generous man! If you want to meet a host as welcoming and generous you’ll have to go to Mauritania !

Absolutely amazing place with a real community atmosphere. Rare and unique to find somewhere that makes you feel like you are being welcomed into someone’s home. Delicious food and tea with super friendly and attentive service. I can’t wait to come back to read more of the vintage thought provoking books!

This place is incredible! What an amazing energy this place has. We ordered one of everything on the menu and had a feast for lunch. The person behind the counter was super friendly and inviting, he encouraged us to look around while he was getting the food ready. The book store in the back had a great selection of books, covering a lot of genres. It’s so cozy back there, decorated nicely. As we ate, a group met up for a learning Arabic meeting, which was nice to listen in on. The food was delicious! It reminds me of some of my favorite places in the world. A place where you can have a nice tea and get comfy, where they encourage community and you can have a great time by just being in the space. Totally invigorating; you just absorb good feelings and energy while kicking back with a book. I can’t wait to go back!

I love this place, the atmosphere is so beautiful, vibrant and peaceful. I had wonderful teas there and can’t wait to try their food and attend more events there. I also experienced beautiful spiritual and musical gatherings there. I am so glad Barzakh has come to Brooklyn.
